Forex Demo Accounts — What and Why

Many potential forex traders are introduced to the idea of forex trading without being introduced to the idea of a demo account. If you are considering the forex trade and your advisors or potential brokers exclude this bit of information, you may want to consider different influences.

Therefore, it is essential, that you do not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. Although the profit potential can be high, it cannot be stressed enough that forex is not the market to invest your very last dollars in desperate hopes that they will multiply.

However, being clearly informed of the risks does not mean you should approach forex with thoughts of imminent doom. As with any other investment, a positive attitude partners with knowledge and skill.

Demo accounts are designed to provide the essential knowledge and skill that you will need. Online demo accounts are funded with virtual money. Demo trading gives you the opportunity to trade under real conditions, with real-time data, but without the risk of losing your money due to inexperience.

With demo accounts you are provided the opportunity to test and become comfortable with various platforms. You are also provided the opportunity to develop your strategy, which is the spine of your success.

Potential traders should work with demo accounts for no less than three months. Six months is better, and there is no shame in demo trading for a year.

Forex trading is a skill, not a game of luck. The necessary skill will require you to invest serious amounts of practice time. Since different people have different schedule constraints, there is no average amount of time to trade with a demo account. However, demo accounts are recommended for all potential traders.
